Last summer/fall MC** did something similar, creating VC**. Not sure how their spinoff turned out ,but they gave roughly 45 days advance notice that, basically, if you own shares on that future date you'll receive x amount of shares in the new company. I think there is plenty of time, months even, to get your ship in order...
