IPC Continues Expanding Presence in Behavioral Health With Acquisition of North Carolina Elderly Psychiatric Services

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Dec. 11, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: IPCM ), a leading national hospital medicine and post-acute physician group practice company, announced today that it is continuing its investment in the behavioral health market with the acquisition of North Carolina Elderly Psychiatric Services (NCEPS) in Raleigh, North Carolina.

"NCEPS, led by Dr. James Horst and Chief Operating Officer Stephen Mangano, has a well-established reputation of partnering with long-term care facilities across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The group's physician led teams of local providers deliver on-site compassionate care and multidisciplinary behavioral interventions to patients residing in the long-term care setting. They are true advocates for patients and have a passion to raise the standard of mental health care in the communities they serve. We are delighted to welcome them to the IPC team," said R. Jeffrey Taylor, president and COO of IPC.

Dr. Horst will continue with the group as IPC's Regional Medical Director, and Mr. Mangano will continue with IPC as the new Mid-South Region's Director of Operations. "This is an exciting time for us to combine our regional expertise with IPC's infrastructure in order to provide even better care and outcomes on a regional level, while contributing to IPC's intellectual capital in the behavioral healthcare arena nationally," Mr. Mangano said.

The patient encounters for the practice are estimated at approximately 120,000 on a combined annualized basis.
