The kidSAFE Seal Program hails the effectiveness of Witigo software

PARIS, Dec. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Witigo , a publisher of software for protecting children online, has been awarded "Approved Vendor" certification by the KidSAFE Seal Program for its entire range of parental control solutions. For professional and personal users, this seal provides the latest proof of the richness and the effectiveness of Witigo software when it comes to protecting children from inappropriate online content.

"We want to provide parents with the most adaptable and effective parental control solutions so that they are free to choose the level of filtering for each child while ensuring that their children enjoy the highest possible protection when browsing the Internet," explains Nicolas Lacourte, Witigo product manager.

The KidSAFE Seal Program: a professional safeguard in a very wide market

The kidSAFE Seal Program is an independent certification service that reviews the safety guarantees given by sites and applications for children. Its goal is to recognize and support organisations that provide educational software, technology and content or any other type of product or service promoting the safety of online or mobile technology environments aimed at children. Accordingly, the kidSAFE Program helps companies, parents or teachers to find safe activities guarding children's privacy online.

This program was developed by its president and founder Shai Samet, an experienced and accredited consultant in the field of data and privacy protection. In particular, Samet has developed and launched compliance programs for many companies regarding consumers.

A custom user-friendly tool with intelligent filtering to protect children on the Internet

Witigo Parental Filter is available in several versions - for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iOS and Android. All of these are equipped with real-time ICE (Intelligent Content Evaluation) content filtering technology that can recognize the content of a web site through very fine analysis (address, key words, links, images and semantics), even on the pages that have just been created or freshly edited. It provides parents with real-time, optimal filtering with more than 99% efficiency.

With Witigo, online child protection can be customized and parameters can be set remotely from any connected computer or device thanks to a cloud-based management console shared by all devices protected by Witigo. In addition to pornography, the 27 available filtering categories include sites promoting, for instance, anorexia, violence or racism and online buying or gambling.

In addition to web filtering, the Witigo Parental Filter solution for Windows also makes it possible to define the scope of children's activities on the computer: time slots and quotas for the Internet access, the PC or even, for certain software and games, blocking access to particular programs or folders, restricting rights over Windows settings, software installation or the execution of certain file types and use statistics. Witigo Parental Filter for Windows is the only parental control to have been voted No1 seven times at the annual test organized by the independent body, Filtra ( Action Innocence , an NGO).

Lastly, Witigo applications for Android and iOS protect children with its own browser replacing the default one. Naturally, this dedicated browser uses ICE technology and is hosted on the Witigo Cloud to save the device's resources and battery life.

Witigo solutions can be downloaded from www.witigo.us and free 30-day trials are also available. Perfectly suitable for families and schools, Witigo solutions are also available as OEMs for PC, tablet or smartphone manufacturers who wish to offer products or services intended for children. The ICE filtering technology also comes in SDK form so that safety solution publishers or router manufacturers can add this module to their products.

All brands and products mentioned are the property of their respective owners.
