Kemira
From its beginnings in 1920 in Finland, where it is still headquartered, Kemira has expanded its operations to 40 countries where it employs a total of 4,900 people. A global chemical company, Kemira supplies chemical products and solutions to a myriad of industries, including pulp and paper, oil, mining, and municipal and industrial water. Among these the company provides formate-based deicing agents for airports and roads and formic acid, of which it is the world’s second largest producer, for applications such as animal feed preservation and leather tanning. Kemira’s knowledge of the markets and applications for formate and formic acid products make them an invaluable partner for Mantra.
NORAM BC Research
BC ResearchSince its inception in 1988, Vancouver’s NORAM has obtained a global reputation for excellence by providing innovative solutions and engineering and equipment packages to the chemical, pulp and paper, minerals processing and electrochemical industries. Having completed projects on five continents for such clients as Dupont, SASOL and ICI, the company is recognized as a world leader in industries such as nitration, sulfuric acid and electrochemistry. NORAM works with early stage technology companies through its research lab BC Research Inc., a “Technology Commercialization and Innovation Centre”. Their facility houses a wet chemical laboratory and over 10,000 square feet of pilot plant space, and is where Mantra is performing its ongoing research and development work. BC Research (in collaboration with NORAM) has been engaged to design and build Mantra’s ERC pilot plant.
Powertech
Powertech Labs Inc., a subsidiary of BC Hydro, specializes in clean energy consulting and independent testing. Engaged with Mantra Energy since the summer of 2012, Powertech has been helping to develop a flue gas-handling unit for the pilot plant. With experience serving electrical utilities, oil and gas companies, and electrical equipment manufacturers, among others, Powertech’s multidisciplinary team brings a vast breadth of knowledge and resources to Mantra Energy.
