Last week...Thanksgiving week.....Kalitta, Baltia, and the FAA all did their own independent investigations as to what happened during the test. Whereas Baltia's report could practicaly be a one liner (during the test, the _____ failed to deploy due to a mechanical malfunction of unknown origin), the report from Kalitta will undoubtedly be much more extensive, and the report from the FAA will probably wind up as a short novel.
Fortunately, we do not have to wait for the conclusion to those reports.
This week Kalitta is sending over its best mechanics to take the parts out.....send them out for repair/over-haul....and then re-install them.
Personally I am hoping the "defective" parts can be re-moved and that new parts can immediately be swapped in - while the "defective " parts can be fixed at a later date and then returned to Kalitta's inventory.
If that is done - take out the old, replace them immediately with new - then we could be on schedule for another mini-evac in 7 to 10 days.
If, however, we have to wait for parts to be fixed and returned - geez - who knows how long that could take.
I myself am going to make a call and push for the first option, since clearly this is not Baltia's fault, and Baltia and the FAA are kind of stuck in a holding pattern while Kalitta corrects what they kind of did wrong (they did do months of C-checks on N706BL and then signed off on all of those repairs).
Oh.....and yes.....don't expect Baltia to PR any of this.
LOL....those of us who have been here for many years have been trying to get Baltia to PR the good news items, often times to no avail.
This last "molehill" of an event certainly cannot be considered newsworthy in their (or in anyone's) opinion.....................
