(NASDAQ: UBSH) today reported net income of $14.9 million and earnings per share of $0.33 for its third quarter ended September 30, 2014. Excluding after-tax acquisition-related expenses of $1.1 million, operating earnings(1) for the quarter were $16.0 million and operating earnings per share(1) was $0.35. The quarterly results represent a decrease of $1.8 million, or 10.1%, in operating earnings from the prior quarter. Operating earnings per share of $0.35 for the current quarter decreased $0.03, or 7.9%, from the quarter ended June 30, 2014. Net income for the nine months ended September 30, 2014 was $37.5 million and earnings per share was $0.81. For the nine months ended September 30, 2014, operating earnings were $50.7 million and operating earnings per share was $1.09.
