Legg Mason, Inc. (NYSE: LM) today reported its operating results for the second fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2014. The Company reported net income1 of $4.9 million, or $0.04 per diluted share, as compared with net income of $72.2 million, or $0.61 per diluted share, in the previous quarter, and net income of $86.3 million, or $0.70 per diluted share, in the second quarter of fiscal 2014. In the quarter, Legg Mason completed a debt refinancing that resulted in a $107.1 million charge, or $0.59 per diluted share. Adjusted income2 for the second quarter was $40.6 million, or $0.35 per diluted share, as compared to $107.2 million, or $0.91 per diluted share, in the previous quarter and $104.5 million, or $0.85 per diluted share, in the second quarter of fiscal 2014. For the quarter, operating revenues were $703.9 million, up 1% from $693.9 million in the prior quarter, and up 5% from $669.9 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2014. Operating expenses were $573.5 million, relatively flat compared to $574.4 million in the prior quarter and up 2% from $563.5 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2014.
