I think you’re right on with that assessment. It fits with AAPL’s claim that they want to continue working with GT, while putting its legal problems to bed.

Agree its more complex than who was there to directing.
The sensible solution for Apple would be a renegotiated contract,complete with continued financing that would enable GT to drop the Chap 11,give it more time to work out any production and quality issues.keep the factory open and the workers employed and keep Apples' secrets ,secret,plus give them the leading edge technology that they wanted,and I believe, still want.Win - Win for everybody. JMHO,of course!!

GTAdvanced was there on the ground floor installation of the existing facilities left over from first solar. Apple's presence was near zero there. GTAdvance is who the third party contractors dealt with issues and guidance. Apple only dealt with GT, not third party contractors.

It seems likely that Apple is still interested in working out the production 'bugs' with GT.It just took a little prodding to get them to re-evaluate their relationship.IMO,we should see a new and better deal soon.With the unwelcome exposure of info that Apple wants to keep secret and all the time,money and effort that Apple has invested in this technology,plus it's relationship with Arizona,etc., it's hard to believe that they would just be willing to walk away from all of this.

may I include that I feel the contract was probably a great deal to begin with similar to the same demand as Gorilla glass. I think terms evolved shortly after the completion of the first phase construction where they were already turning glass in March and GTAT recognized the issues with a low yield due to size of the glass.I think Apples stringent specs for their flexible iphone6 bezel was a killer for an extremely hard scratch resistant sapphire glass screen. Size of the sapphire glass was the killer.

I believe the resolution will be favorable for all parties. That will get those that have been laid off able to return to work, the Q tattoo off of us and restore PPS. Which at the end of the is most important. GTATQ LONG!!

GTATQ $$$$ I suspect the contract was written in terms that were impossible to fulfill and/or after the contract was agreed to AAPL was negligent in providing adequate technology risk management, and/or AAPL failed to have the facility operational by the anticipated time frame, and/or AAPL failed to provide accurate fabrication cost projections, and/or AAPL failed to provide the agreed funding in order for GTAT to complete the project....and we know there are likely to be more questionable AAPL requirements in the highly sealed documents.
Doesn't matter if GTAT agreed to it...if AAPL made it impossible for GTAT to fulfill the contract...the contract is voided.
I think we should be asking ourselves the benefits of BK 11 or not for GTAT.
