The company’s parent corporation, Supreme Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced in October it was raising another $1 million climbing to about $3.6 million in financing to see the completion of the construction phase of the greenhouses.
AMMCan president Peter Herburger said the construction phase has gone well, security is in place and they hope to invite Health Canada to the facility in the next week or so.
“We have the right proceedures in place to assure both the quality and safety of the project,” said Herburger.
Once inspectors take a look at the work already completed to determine if the greenhouses fit within guidelines set for pharmaceutical facilities, AMMCan will be able to start producing marijuana on a trial basis.
This “product” will take eight to 10 weeks to produce, before it’s tested by Health Canada to assess whether AMMCan can produce “naturally grown” marijuana “without any contamination of the product,” Herburger said.
After Health Canada lab tests the product, Herburger said they hope to receive a license to start full-scale production, by late February or early March.
“We need that license, then we can go,” he said.
This would be followed by a permit to sell, which would be issued a short time later, he said.
