P2O does indeed work very, very, very well. High temperatures break the bonds holding together plastic and, as long as there isn't any oxygen to burn the material at those temperatures, that material can be condensed/cooled into an oil.
The problem is that decomposing plastic into an oil generally is a very, very, very useless endeavor because the resulting oil is worth less than the plastic scrap needed to make it...as PTOI found out.
I'm not going to address the "...entities trying to stop it [by posting on message boards]". Obviously if an investor believes that PTOI is being "stopped" by message board posters then some swindler is going to part that investor from his/her money at some point anyway.
