People, if you care whether or not PTOI has any value, look up the prices for scrap HDPE/LDPE/PP. The prices of scrap will be a bit lower recently because those prices vary with the price of oil and oil is down. Those scrap prices are around $700/$750 or so.
The diesel spot price is currently $2.48/gallon. So even if PTOI can produce PURE diesel at their stated 87% conversion, buying scrap at $700/ton to convert it into $600 worth of diesel makes no sense.
Keep in mind the production of salable diesel is a hypothetical maximum. PTOI has NEVER shown it can produce pure diesel. But even if PTOI somehow could...they're still converting $700/ton scrap plastic into $600 worth of diesel. (scrap = $700/ton, ton=2,000 lbs, diesel wt = 7.2 lb/gallon, diesel spot = $2.48/gallon).
Faustus found a couple of ads which were low...and instead of wondering why those ads might be low and, in fact right next to ads wanting to buy plastic scrap at higher prices than those ads were asking...Faustus decided to use those low prices...and he kept the assumption that the market price must be near the price of diesel. Given his grandiose assumptions, he's correct...but make sure your assumptions are correct.
