I agree with your points. Just because you may not like the building does not mean they do not have a right to be there. In my mind the town has not done their homework and allowed this to get well out of hand before taking the opportunity to address the concerns of nearby residents. The town could have held the open house last January. Since the MMPR states certain realities applicants must abide by, and the town did grant the permits, the town was within their authority. The town is battling this not on crime or traffic or smells or what it looks like but on another matter altogether. \You are right, this could go either way. It may end up in the hands of the Ontario Municipal Board or in the court. An outcome from either of those two bodies will likely result in someone coming away unhappy. Much of the blame here lies with the town for failing to address all of the issues earlier and waiting even until July was leaving it too long.
