I don't think the political grandstanding that is taking place in Lakeshore is an issue at all. It's goes to the very heart of politics. Politically speaking, any politician is cautious to adopt a stance on any issue and it's the reason they are always talking out both sides of their mouth. Take abortion for example. If a politician takes a side, he immediately alienates himself from all of those people on the opposite side. In this case, FITX is the issue. If a politician picks a side they will immediately alienate all those opposed. Politically speaking, the councel members have to refrain from taking a side as long as they can to appear unbiased. That way they are not alienating anyone. I think it's why they keep postponing and deferring the issue. If they wait for the open houses and allow all of the infomational/educational facts to come out, they can then show a basis, or an educated decision if you will, for their position. Perhaps what they are doing now is lending an ear to those few people opposed to show they are being fair in their decision making process. Once all of the informational presentations are given and it becomes clear that odor, traffic, crime and the like are non-issues, then the counsel members will be able to support their ultimate decision. If they were to simply ignore those few people in opposition and just open their arms to Cen Biotech without delving further into the issues they might alienate those in opposition without being able to show they at least took the concerns into consideration. Once Cen Biotech quells any concerns and affirmatively shows that odor, traffic, crime and the like are NOT problems, and have not been problems in other jurisdictions, then counsel can show those in opposition that their concerns were addressed, are without merit, and that as a result counsel finds more good than bad in opening its arms to Cen Biotech. As long as counsel lets this process take place those in opposition will have nothing more to say about it as their concerns were taken into consideration. But, if counsel were not to take those concerns into consideration those opposed would feel wronged as they never had an opportunity to be heard. Educate those in opposition. Their ignorance will be quelled. They should feel satisfied that they were at least heard. And they should be more accepting once they see from statistics and facts by way of an informational open house that their concerns are non issues. Those few are scared simply because they don't know. So lets educate them.
