ALLIED TO PARTICIPATE IN LIMITED RELEASE OF FLIR TG165

FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Allied Electronics , a trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), announced today that they will be one of a very few distributors authorized to sell the new, low-cost FLIP TG165 Imaging IR Thermometer in 2014. It will not be released widely until the beginning of 2015.

"For the first 90 days of the FLIR TG165's release, Allied is among a very select group of distributors to receive access to this product before the full market release in January 2015," said Product Director Marie Dawson.  "As the only distributor in the electronics category with access to TG165 inventory in Q4 2014, we're able to exclusively showcase this dynamic Imaging IR Thermometer to our customers throughout North America. We've seen demand for exactly this type of product, especially in maintenance and industrial applications where a spot thermometer won't give the complete picture, but a thermal imager is beyond the budget.  The combination of FLIR quality at a competitive price point makes this one of the most anticipated releases in quite some time."

"The TG165 is a real game-changer in the infrared world," said FLIR's General Manager for Test and Measurement Mike Fox. "With 21 times the resolution of its nearest competitor – at the same price – the TG165 is poised to truly deliver on its promise to be 'The World's Sixth Sense.' It boasts a 24:1 spot ratio, dual laser pointers, and a wide temperature range from 13°F to 716°F for obtaining reliable readings from a safe distance. It's easy and intuitive to operate, and offers grab-and-go simplicity. Equipped with FLIR's exclusive Lepton™ micro thermal camera, this is the technology of the future."

"We anticipate brisk sales of this exciting device," Dawson added, "so we urge our customers to contact us as soon as possible to place their order and reserve their product."
