The expansion of the indoor growth industry
In the 1980s, the indoor growing movement became popular across the country, and even earned a reputation for being of better quality than outdoor growing, since it takes a very meticulous system to properly cultivate marijuana indoors.
Demand for domestically grown product was high, creating little competition between indoor and outdoor growers, but that changed as states began legalizing medical marijuana. Outdoor growers tended to produce more for quantity than quality. Indoor growers strived for quality. As more states adopted legalization, the market became more competitive. Prices came down. The profit margin on indoor grown cannabis began to shrink. That’s when the use of leading edge technology became critical for indoor growers.
