In which case the engineers saw that their work would be used by others and that could cause harm to others besides the clients.
If PTOI asks SAIC to do the calculations...and asserts that PTOI's research validates the $10/bbl cost and WTI-$3 price...then the only one the engineers can see who will suffer from incorrect numbers is PTOI...PTOI which is the one asserting those numbers are correct and should be used. SAIC lists the assumptions provided, notes that the results depend on those assumptions and the engineers then have no liability.
