announces that it acquired a further 10,000 Common Shares of Economic Investment Trust Limited ("Economic" , increasing its ownership from 551,913 (9.828%) of the Common Shares to 561,913 (10.006%) of the Common Shares. C&F has an informal understanding with other shareholders of Economic under which they act in concert with respect to the voting of securities of Economic held by them. The purchase increases the ownership of C&F and these other shareholders from 4,504,229 (80.21%) of the Common Shares to 4,514,229 (80.388%) of the Common Shares. The purchase was effected through the facilities of the Toronto Stock Exchange for consideration of $76.72 per share. The purchase, and C&F's holding of Common Shares of Economic, are for investment purposes only. C&F may purchase further Common Shares from time to time, if in its judgment the shares represent a good investment in view of their price.
