DGAP-News: Grammer to Present Innovations for Greater Sitting Comfort and Safety at IAA Commercial Vehicles

DGAP-News: Grammer AG / Key word(s): Miscellaneous Grammer to Present Innovations for Greater Sitting Comfort and Safety at IAA Commercial Vehicles 24.09.2014 / 09:06 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Grammer to Present Innovations for Greater Sitting Comfort and Safety at IAA Commercial Vehicles The showcased products are setting new standards of ergonomics, safety and design. Amberg / September 24, 2014 - By presenting a large number of innovative products at IAA Commercial Vehicles, Grammer AG will underscore its role as a leading developer and manufacturer of seats for commercial vehicles. The highlights at this year's show are the truck driver seats MSG 115 with electromotive accessed seat adjustment, an integrated haptic warning system for bus driver seats, and new designs for aftermarket seats for commercial vehicles. Grammer supplies products for both initial installation and retrofitting trucks and other commercial vehicles. Bus Driver Seat with integrated Haptic Warning System For the first time, Grammer is exhibiting an integrated driver assistance system to help bus drivers avoid inadvertently swerving out of their lane and causing an accident. Called a "haptic warning system" or "lane departure warning system" (LDWS), it targets original equipment manufacturers. The system works silently without disturbing passengers. It consists of two vibration motors that are integrated in the seat cushion on the left and right and vibrate perceptibly if the vehicle passes over the left or right lane divider, which is detected by infrared sensors on the underbody. The use of lane departure warning systems is a consequence of EU Directive 661/2009/EC. The new rules affect all trucks with a permissible gross weight of more than 3.5 tons as well as all buses that seat more than nine persons (if they have received a new type approval since November 1, 2013 or are newly registered). Retrofit Seats in New Designs Besides its proven line of truck seats, Grammer will also exhibit aftermarket seats for forklift trucks and construction machines that feature completely new upholstery designs. The colors are geared to the look of each manufacturer's driver cabs and vehicles. In this case as well, Grammer is setting standards with new designs and high-tech materials. Company Profile Grammer AG, Amberg, Germany, is specialized in the development and production of components and systems for automotive interiors as well as driver and passenger seats for offroad vehicles (tractors, construction machinery, forklifts), trucks, buses and trains. Our Seating Systems division comprises the truck and offroad seat segments as well as train and bus seating. In the Automotive division, we supply headrests, armrests and center console systems to premium automakers and automotive system suppliers.
