Philippines to host Int'l IT-BPM Summit this October

MANILA, Philippines, Sept. 23, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - The information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) industry, which has placed the Philippines at its top two global destinations of choice for business, is expected to collect US$25 billion in revenue and create 1.3 million direct employees by 2016.

To continue to effectively nurture the thriving industry, hundreds of global stakeholders will come together this October to gain valuable insight, share best practices and leverage networking opportunities at the sixth annual International IT-BPM Summit (IIS) held at Makati, Shangri-La, Manila, Philippines on October 13-14,2014. Themed "Drive Change. Shape the Future.", the summit aims to attract all who are interested in the developments of the industry, including outsourcing firms, allied industries, and prospective investors

The first session titled The Philippine IT-BPM Complex: Moving from Strength to Strength will report on the progress of the local industry midway through the 2012-2016 IT-BPM Road Map in a presentation by Vikrant Khanna, principal of Tholons. Moderated by Jose Mari Mercado, president and CEO of IBPAP, the session also features a panel discussion with representatives from all six local industry vertical associations which include Benjamin Marasigan, Jr. of the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI), Alvin Juban of the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP), Dr. Josefina Lauchangco of the Healthcare Information Management Outsourcing Association of the Philippines (HIMOAP), Benedict Hernandez of the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), Joey Gurango of the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), and Mark Galutera of the Global In-House Center Council (GICC).

IIS will also explore various aspects that have contributed to the growth of the industry, including the global technological revolution that continues to redefine the IT-BPM landscape.

The New Hardware: Systems Up in the Cloud session moderated by Ron Arambulo, executive director of IBPAP, will showcase the need to eradicate massive hardware and expensive software licenses, and discuss how organizations can take their businesses to the cloud. Mike Sy, Head of Products and Services, Globe Telecom, one of the largest telecommunication companies in the Philippines, will be presenter and panelist of the session. Other panelists include Lope Doromal, chief technologist of IBM Philippines Inc.; Karrie Ilagan, managing director of Microsoft Philippines; and Darcy Lalonde, CEO of Shore Solutions.

As social media transforms how we communicate, it is also revolutionizing the way businesses communicate with their customers. Social Media: Now more than ever will be presented by Jos Ortega, chairman and CEO of Havas Media, and will be among other panelists including Hans Eric Chua, director of International Institute of Digital Marketing; Dang Casado, sourcing head - VP of Citigroup Business Process Solutions; and Stephanie Wilson, executive vice president and head for ACM of Firstsource Solutions Ltd. who will dig into how businesses can offer and utilize social media in their customer relations management strategy in discussion moderated by Monette Iturralde-Hamlin, president of integrated marketing communications firm, TeamAsia.

When it comes to branding strategies, it's wise to learn from what works for others. Moderated by industry veteran, former IBPAP senior executive director, Gigi Virata, the session ATTENTION: Brand strategies that attract investment will look into what countries or cities have done to draw positive attention as a destination for IT-BPM operations. Domingo Ramon Enerio III, Chief Operating Officer of the Tourism Promotions Board, Department of Tourism (DOT) will be a presenter and a panelist for this session. Other panelists include Armand Angeli, president of European Outsourcing Association; Gareth Pritchard, CEO of BPeSA Western Cape; Hon. Minister Abdul Latif Siddique, Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Bangladesh; ITIDA Egypt; and JAMPRO Trade and Investment Jamaica

Updates on the Next Wave Cities™, areas outside of Metro Manila which have been recognized for their capabilities to support the industry, will also be delivered at the conference in a panel moderated by Monchito Ibrahim, deputy executive director of the Information and Communications Technology Office of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-ICTO) with panelists Lizabel Holganza, president and chairperson of National ICT Confederation of the Philippines and Mayor Monico Puentevella of Bacolod City, one of the country's fastest IT-BPM hubs .

Market Watch: Opportunities from the Land of Opportunity, which will be moderated by Jon Kaplan, president of TeleDevelopment Services, Inc., puts a spotlight on the Philippines' largest market for IT-BPM services, the United States. The panelists, which include Michele Shuster, partner at MacMurray Petersen Shuster LLP; Tim Searcy, CEO of iPacesetters; Matthew D'Uva, president and CEO of SOCAP International; Brian Johnson, CEO of Teleperformance; Jeff Williams, Assistant Vice President for Corporate Services at Cognizant; and H. The final session of the IIS will be Talent Leads: Closing the leadership gap, and will address the growing talent demand in the Philippines, specifically in leadership positions. Moderated by Penny Bongato, executive director for Talent Development of IBPAP, it will have Anand Shankar, chief commercial officer of AON Hewitt, Asia Pacific as a presenter and panelist, and Asheesh Mehra, head of Infosys BPO – APAC; Sarah McLeod, executive vice president of Q2HR Solutions; Prabhakar Bisen, country head of Cognizant Technology Solutions Philippines; and Joyce Penalosa, chief human resource officer of QBE Group Shared Services Ltd. also as panelists.

Special speaker presentations will include Deepak Mangla, CEO of Global Head of Global Service Centers, JPMorgan Chase & Co., who will be providing insight on his global in-house center experiences in both Philippines and India; and Mohammed Zafar Ali, director for management consulting of KPMG who will shed light on leveraging ASEAN integration to boost GIC opportunities for Philippines.
