SUNDAY DEC 2 2012: visit to Loblaws.
I dropped by a location near my home and managed to get a meat clerk to chat with me for a bit. I had to feel him out to see if he'd be keen on sharing anything. Well, it's apparent they are using RFID as he knows this security measure but he told me everything comes prepackaged from the warehouse. So any items one sees on the shelves in the coolers are not packaged in house by the butcher. Since these labels are already attached to the meat products before delivery to the stores there is no way of finding out unless someone called the warehouse or knew someone in head office.There just happened to be a skid with boxes of meat waiting to be distributed onto the coolers that the clerk pointed out to me. He said that is how they receive their product.
I went to the liberty of being honest with him enough to let him know I would like to find out who supplies their security tags. I will check back with him next Sunday to see if I can get an answer.
