I was flying out of Baltimore-Washington International Airport (I was at Johns Hopkins Undergrad in Baltimore MD as a Biology Major - on an ROTC scholarship).
At any rate (that is....enough tooting my own horn), one time I was late for a flight and I saw my plane slowly heading towards the runway. As I dragged my feet and headed back towards the ticket counter - trying to figure out WTF I was going to do - I heard an announcement that the plane was returning to the gate.
I bolted back to the gate and asked the young lady there if I could hope on this time around.
I followed two line maintenance guys out onto the tarmac and up one of those portable staircases. It was a full plane with one empty seat.
As I headed to my seat.....all the way in the back......I thanked everyone for coming back for me.
Stand up comedian free of charge............
LOL.......two line maintenance guys to replace one faulty light bulb on the instrument panel.
At any rate....as I sat there....I wondered if I was lucky.....or about to be very unlucky.
It was perhaps one of the smoothest flights I have ever taken.
Just thought I'd toss that out there..........it is not a story I get to use very often...........
