Is impossible to know whether EWSI's strategy makes it important that they be at the ICWMT conference. For example, do they need to establish a "brand" directly there themselves or do they have more of a "back door", behind the scenes approach in China wherein it's probably more important that their partner(s) have a presence. One can argue someone from EWSI should be there to at least roam around and see what's happening in the China e-waste arena be it for competitive intelligence or making friends (Feeley?). I know I've done that many times over my business career and it can pay off well.
Martin's answer implies they are mulling over their own presence under the EWSI logo, but who knows for sure. We just don't know enough about how EWSI is structuring things in China. But my knee jerk reaction is certainly that I'd love to see a booth and EWSI logo. Then again October 29th is a long, long way away given present circumstances. Any involved with the conference warrants a big fat PR announcement as soon as they decide!!!!
Having said all this, the conference is just 6 weeks away and from my experience it's kind of late to be still thinking about going. It should have been obvious to Marty as soon as he learned of the conference (or any other one for that matter) whether they should go or not. So his answer, damnit, could be interpreted as another delay to keep people on the hook. Why don't we simply get an inkling at least, or a full fledged strategy, to their plan over there and cut the B.S. Sand is disappearing from the hour glass!!
