U.S. Northeast Remains Life-Science Darling, Attracting $8 Billion in Capital Investment, an Industrial Info News Alert
Marketwire - 11 mins ago
Reported by Annette Kreuger, Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Like any long-term union, the one shared between the U.S. Northeast region, which comprises Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, and the Life Science Industry is a classic example of a love/hate relationship. The Northeast region has been pummeled over the past few years with scores of pharmaceutical plants closing and lucrative jobs lost. On the other hand, the region remains a favorite for capital investment from both the private and public sectors for new and upgraded life-science manufacturing plants and research centers. Currently, there are 147 active reported projects translating to a hefty $7.8 billion in total investment value.

M2 - 1 hr 34 mins ago
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/5qmmg2/pharmapoint) has announced the addition of the "PharmaPoint: Migraine - Global Drug Forecast and Market Analysis to 2023" report to their offering. The migraine market is saturated with generic drugs, and the remaining branded products already on the market are expected to lose exclusivity during the next few years, with the exception of Botox for chronic migraine, which is expected to maintain its leading position in terms of sales. However, reformulations of mature products as well as new classes of therapies are anticipated to launch during the forecast period and these will contribute to the market growth. By 2023, the migraine market will grow to $3.7 billion at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.6%, with the US continuing to dominate the market as a result of higher drug prices and a large migraine population. Some of the new treatments are expected to target the key unmet needs but opportunities will remain for further treatment choices especially drugs that will offer an improved safety and side-effects profile. Key Findings - The main driver of the expansion of the migraine market will be the continuous use of Botox for chronic migraine. The introduction of reformulations of mature products as well as new classes of therapies will further increase the market size. - The biggest barrier for the introduction of new therapies will be patent expirations of the majority of the drugs marketed for migraine, which have resulted in an increase of generics, and which may negatively impact revenue from branded drugs that are expected to launch in the forecast period. - The concerns of reducing healthcare costs as part of government austerity measures, particularly in Europe, which will impede market growth. To ensure reimbursement companies will have to work closely together with payers and price their drugs competitively. Key Topics Covered: 1 Tables & Figures 2 Introduction 3 Disease Overview 4 Epidemiology 5 Disease Management 6 Competitive Assessment 7 Opportunity and Unmet Need 8 Pipeline Assessment 9 Current and Future Players 10 Market Outlook 11 Appendix Companies Mentioned - GlaxoSmithKline - AstraZeneca - Merck - Vernalis - Almirall - Pfizer - Zogenix - NuPathe - Allergan - RedHill Biopharma - OptiNose - CoLucid Pharmaceuticals - SUDA - Revance Therapeutics - NeurAxon For more information visit http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/5q...harmapoint

Global Infectious Disease Treatment Market 2014-2018: Key Vendors are F. Hoffmann-La Roche, Gilead Sciences, GSK, J&J Merck & Pfizer
M2 - Tue Sep 09, 3:46AM CDT
Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/5tdjb4/global_infectious) has announced the addition of the "Global Infectious Disease Treatment Market 2014-2018" report to their offering. The analysts forecast the Global Infectious Disease Treatment market to grow at a CAGR of 3.43% over the period 2013-2018. Infectious diseases can be caused by various pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, parasites, or viruses. These diseases can be transmitted from one individual to another through either direct contact or indirect contact. Anti-infective drugs are used to kill (cidal) or stop the growth (static) of infectious agents. Based on the target organism, anti-infective drugs can be categorized into antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antiparasitic. One of the emerging trends in this market is the emergence of Interferon-free regimens. Various all-oral, IFN-free regimens are under development and are expected to attain higher sustained virologic response and cause fewer side effects than the currently approved therapies. According to the report, the launch of Direct-acting Antivirals is one of the major drivers for the Global Infectious Disease Treatment market. DAAs are administered in combination with other antiviral drugs such as ribavirin and PEG-IFN and increase the efficacy of treatment and decrease the duration of therapy and this leads to increased preference for this treatment among patients. Further, the report states that a generic erosion of marketed drugs is one of the major challenges faced by the market. A loss of patent protection and market exclusivity generally triggers the entry of low-cost alternatives for drugs, which, in turn, decreases the sales of innovator-approved drugs. To calculate the market size, the report considers the revenue generated through the sales of various drugs administered to treat various infectious diseases caused by bacteria, virus, fungi, and parasites, which include: - Antibacterial drugs (beta-lactams, macrolides, aminoglycosides, phenicols, quinolones, sulfonamides, tetracyclines, and other antibacterials) - Antiviral drugs (HIV, hepatitis C, hepatitis B, and other antivirals) - Antifungal drugs (azoles, pyrimidines, echinodians, polyenes, allylamines, and other antifungal drugs) - Antiparasitic drugs Key Vendors - F. Hoffmann-La Roche - Gilead Sciences - GlaxoSmithKline - Johnson & Johnson - Merck - Pfizer For more information visit http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/5t...infectious
