It is not the CEN Biotech application but the others. There are a number of applicants and had there just been one this new plan would not have been conceived of. Because there are numerous applicants and the town would like to accomodate as many of them as possible, they felt, and this is backed up by their own mission statement, they would like to see those projects controlled somewhat by the town so as to minimise conflict and that is what they are doing.
It might be a better question to ask why Jim Shaaban, on his appicationi for a building permit, close to a year ago, did not put down the end use as medical marijuana facility rather than agricultural storage, which is what is on the permit. It is one thing to say publicly what you are doing, and quite another to officially apply for necessary permission. The process for a zoning amendment is not based upon hearsay, or if you will, what is being said in public, but on whatt is officially being applied for.
Regardless, the town will do what it will. I maintain this should not influence Health Canada's decision to grant or not grant a license and in fact if one is granted, it will only help their application with the town.
