OTTAWA, Sept. 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Validian Corp. (VLDI), the leader in cyber security technology that provides secure access, transfer and storage of digital information on wired, wireless and mobile networks over the Internet, today is pleased to announce that it has been asked by a number of cyber security experts within its channel partners to collaborate on the development of a Validian-enabled solution that provides Secure Access of Servers, Databases and the Cloud as well as the Secure Access, Retrieval, Transfer, Receipt and Storing of digital information thereon including preventing a number of types of cyber attacks that have been breaching Government and Enterprise servers, databases and the Cloud.
Currently, there is no technology that can secure access to servers, databases and the Cloud, which is one of the most critical cyber security problems plaguing Governments and Enterprises as further evidenced by several recent, high profile cyber attacks, including the hacking of:
• Apple's iCloud to steal and post private photographs of celebrities (Bloomberg, Sept. 3, 2014)
• JPMorgan Chase & Co. to infiltrate and steal data (Bloomberg, Aug. 27, 2014)
• Community Health Systems, which operates 206 hospitals across the United States, that resulted in the theft of the personal data of 4.5 million patients (CNN, Aug. 18, 2014)
• the U.S. Government's personnel database wherein the government's Intrusion Prevention cyber security solution first had to detect the cyber attack after it had already penetrated the database and then took actions to block the attack from continuing. (Washington Post, July 15, 2014)
These channel partners provide solutions and services to an international community of: major Governments and their departments; several multinational. national and regional banks; hundreds of hospitals and clinics; as well as several Fortune 500 companies.
These cyber security experts recognize that hardware and device based cyber security solutions including Smart Firewalls, Database Event Monitors for Security Information and Event Management and Intrusion Detection System Appliances are not sufficient to prevent these cyber attacks. Neither is password protection or random generated numbers for end user access.
What all of them agree upon is a need for cyber security comprising:
• software only with no hardware or devices
• application of cyber security directly to the data being protected not at the perimeter
• controlled and restricted access of all servers and databases as well as all non-mobile and mobile devices
• application authentication
• better management of keys and crypto and information policies
• ease of, and low cost, implementation, management and operations
