Jean Wright, MD, MBA , is chief innovation officer for the Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS). Dr. Wright is also the principal investigator for the Southern Piedmont Beacon Community. In this role, she oversees projects that provide innovative approaches to disease surveillance, management of chronic disease, sharing of health information, enhancing the ability of case managers to work more effectively with patients and providers, and demonstrations of novel ways to virtually connect with patients and providers.
Prior to CHS, Dr. Wright practiced as a pediatric anesthesiologist, including vice president of medical management for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the chair of pediatrics for Mercer, and executive director for Memorial Health's Children's and Women's Hospital in Savannah. She is also a health services researcher, has served on several federal advisory committees, and given testimony in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. She holds a BS degree from the University of Michigan, an MD degree from Wayne State University, and an MBA degree from Emory's Goizueta School of Business.
