In order to obtain a car loan, you have to disclose your finances. After receiving approval and trust is established that you're in a position to pay back the loan, you pay a fee in the form of an interest charge for the loan. Investing is no different, just in the reverse.
If you conduct your investing business differently than the standards have long ago been set by the professionals, such as the above example, you're not investing; you're gambling.
