CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Sep 3, 2014) - Quick, raise your hand if you know how a 529 college savings plan works. OK, raise your hand if you even kind of know what a 529 plan is. Anyone? College savings plans are confusing, and that's why today Jellyvision announced that it delivered an interactive educational experience for the Florida Prepaid College Board to help parents in Florida better understand how enrolling in a 529 college savings plan can help make a college education more affordable. As outlined in this case study , the interactive tool took users from a place of confusion, where only 19 percent of users believed they fully understood how 529 plans work, to college savings savvy, with almost all (96.6 percent) respondents completing the experience saying they had a better understanding of how 529 plans work.
College is expensive (surprise!), and 529 plans give parents and future students a comprehensive roadmap to ready them to meet this financial challenge. But 529 plans can also be complex and confusing, making potential customers hesitant to enroll. The Florida Prepaid College Board needed to explain the benefits of its savings plans in a way that didn't make people's brains hurt, so it turned to Jellyvision to find a way to cut through the confusion.
The solution was an interactive tool, known as an Interactive Conversation, which feels like you're having a one-on-one chat with a real person. The Conversation asks parents about their child and needs, recommends a savings plan that's right for them, and explains the whole college savings plan thing in a way that's easy to understand.
The results were immediate and resoundingly positive. Nearly 92 percent of users found the Conversation "extremely" or "very" helpful and, with a better understanding of how 529 plans work, they felt confident enough to enroll. And, crucially for the Board, the Conversation increased the conversion rate of visitors to the website by 14.5 percent -- meaning those who came to the site took action by requesting more information or actually enrolling in a plan.
