I have passed on these examples in response to an email I received previously regarding the company's policy on releasing enrollment numbers.
IMO PPHM should be giving out updates on enrollment numbers due to lack of trust from WS.

Others do it!

That same company had a PR just about the enrollment and dosing of the first patients.
=====
announces today that the first patients have been enrolled and treated in the Company’s Phase 2b clinical trial of Brilacidin in patients with Acute Bacterial Skin and Skin Structure Infection (ABSSSI).

GEO: Another PR about enrollment status which is MEASURABLE. I think I could find many more but won't waste my time because IR won't change. They are the same IR which stated PPHM was "non-dilutive" financing.
One month into the study, the trial has completed enrollment of approximately 20 percent of the total patients scheduled in the protocol.

The examples provided all seem to be tied to the halfway point and are not tied to specific numbers. I will be happy to pass them along, however, as Ex said, the majority of the biotech world seems to not give out specific data.
Be sure to include those who have been sabotaged. That's a difficult find
How about if every three months during their conference call they say they are on track, slightly behind, very happy with since we can all compare that to the frame of reference of two years they gave us.
I will be happy to forward any examples of other companies giving enrollment numbers not tied to trial data as aresponse to the email I got saying it was SOP in the biotech world not to give out enrollment numbers
Does the BOD have specific milestones they are measured against for bonuses? I know my company has specific numbers, etc. I also work with many vendors and all of them have numbers like numbers and percentages they have to meet for bonuses.
Brings back memories of when mgmt had to meet performance milestones for bonuses. They failed to meet 4 out of 7 milestones or something of that nature I believe and that was the last time that was done. Amazing stuff.
Most companies do not disclose such, and that is the track PPHM has taken.
Agreed. However if IR and mgmt state to shareholders that the reason they do not is because no other companies do so than they are lying or misleading at best. Kind of harks back to the "personal family" reasons for pulling out of the confernce before the tainted PR was announced. I am sure it was just a coincidence. All imo.
Another example of clear and concise information about interim analysis from another company. Who here knows more about the interim analysis besides the 2 which were vaguely answered in a Q/A session?
EXAMPLE FROM ANOTHER COMPANY:
Quote:
Anticipated 2013 Milestones
Completion of OHR/AVR118 Trial and Data Presentation: Enrollment of the OHR/AVR118 trial is complete and we will present top line data from the phase II trial in the first quarter of 2013. The interim analysis from the current trial demonstrated positive effects and mitigation of multiple symptoms of cachexia, including increase in appetite. Cachexia is a severe wasting disorder often seen in late stage cancer patients which is highly debilitating and diminishes their quality of life. There is currently no FDA approved therapy for cancer cachexia.
Interim Data from Squalamine Eye Drops Phase 2 Trial: The OHR-002 study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Squalamine eye drop for the treatment of wet-AMD patients continues to enroll patients. The protocol includes a predetermined interim analysis when 50% of the patients have completed the nine month treatment period, and we expect to have those results in the fourth quarter of 2013.
.
Geo, it is uncommon but not exceptional
AMRN has been releasing numbers on it's ongoing REDUCE-IT trial.
Merck kGa and ONTY actually published the full enrollment numbers for START (Stimuvax P3 in NSCLC) at some conference while the trial was in progress.
But this really is a pointless issue. Most companies do not disclose such, and that is the track PPHM has taken.
One might get some clarification when they announce the action by the DSMB at the early looks. Until then, expect the same platitudes. Though it is very possible one or both will be after enrollment is complete, and that will be noted at clinicaltrials.gov
Geo: Here is a PR from a company with an enrollment milestone and the one statement by the CEO is so clear. I will try to find some more references.
"We are excited to have reached the halfway point in the enrollment of our Squalamine Eye Drop study," said Dr. Irach B. Taraporewala, CEO of Ohr. "This milestone sets the stage for the planned interim analysis once the 60 patients complete the nine month treatment protocol, and we expect the data to be available in the second quarter of 2014."

Nice weekend - kyoto and San Francisco coming soon!
"Enrollment is on track": Wouldn't it have been awesome if they had put in some milestones over the course of the 2 years and publicly stated them? At least milestones are measurable throughout the process.
I guess if you do not accept the IR explanation then show me examples of other companies who publish their enrollment numbers prior to releasing trial results. I will be happy to use them in responding to the email IR sent me explaining to me that no company publishes enrollment numbers.
lorekarf, you may possibly (but not definitely) be correct about one or more "big players" holding PPHM stock price down, and even though the concept may be labeled "paranoid", irrational, or ill-informed, there is still good reason to consider it a possibility, if not a likelihood. I have said for years that a big pharma could not find a cheaper way to research a new platform; and nobody who has followed this stock for a decade could say that share price events here have been strictly, or even remotely, "marketplace driven". Even recent day-to-day behavior of the stock does not seem "real" to me. But I (obviously) have no expertise in the stock market. Similar to a large percentage of the longs here, I have been attracted to PPHM because the science is sensible and the upside risk seems attractive, but a large number of those still here, either lurking or posting, purchased on good news have seen investment dollars trapped when the stock price slumps and goes into a holding pattern similar to what we've seen for weeks.. It is that repetitive failure to grow value that keeps most gamblers away. There is no reflection of Avid growth in monoclonal antibody production, and little value attributed to the progress in knowledge of the anti-PS platform. Stalled at $.35/share pre-reverse split is an enormous disconnect IMO. Still holding and hoping. Cheers!

I'm sorry but I see Peregrine IR as a barrier between what Peregrine is doing and what its ownership would like to know. I am not paranoid about this or I wouldn't be a long-term holder of more than a few shares. I just don't understand the attitude; in my view it serves no purpose.
I have to wholeheartedly agree with the aforementioned statement because I thought IR was supposed to be the communication conduit between the shareholders and the company.
We can all be surprised....but I would not be surprised by an Asia-Pacific regional partnership...perhaps with Bayer...or an Asian firm. However if they can arrive at an attractive world-wide partnership...with a major BP...I would not complain.
