The average rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage remained at 4.10% in the week that ended Aug. 28, standing at the lowest rate since late October, according to a Thursday report from federally controlled mortgage-buyer Freddie Mac (FMCC)
A year ago, the 30-year rate was at 4.51%. The average rate for the 15-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 3.25% in the latest week from 3.23% in the prior week. Meanwhile, the rate for a 5-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable- rate mortgage increased to 2.97% from 2.95%. The rate for a 1-year Treasury-indexed ARM ticked up to 2.39% from 2.38%.
You said,
"The hedge funds have nothing convincing to justify their greed-driven suits so they are forced to rely on witch hunt requests for "discovery" without limits, desperate in their asttempts to find something, anything they can use to wrest FnF's proceeds from the government and into their already engorged personal estates."
Big-stank. Yeah, nothing except that they broke the law. Securities fraud. Why do you seem to care anyway? Must be some financial gain in here somewhere for you, after all, this is investorshub. Not a political forum for you to spout your Saturday morning armchair lawyer political rants that are only backed up by the crap the media seems to heve fed you. Who is greedy?

grrrrrrrrr - go get 'im Jarenawer
Stop. GSE's are private entities trading in the stock markets. If you don't understand this buy a one way ticket to North Korea. US is stealing me, and you are crossing the red line.
yank, your arguments seem to be primarily ideological. some deep seeded disgust regarding hedge funds capitalizing on a unique situation for profit. like it or not that is capitalism. right or wrong it is the system in which we live. the reality though is that fannie mae raised billions and billions from private investors through a preferred offering just prior to the takeover. at the time those in the government were speaking out regarding the stability of the gse's. a few months later the companies are apparently worthless. then 3 years later they are generating record profits? quite frankly it is bs, and the details should be subject to public and judicial scrutiny.
the securities are entitled to the protection of the laws. whether you like the system or not, it IS the system. the government cannot arbitrarily change the rules to suit itself for a profit. they are profittig on this situation from every angle, and that profit does not come from the wealthy. rich hedge funds types were warned by paulson beforehand...

In my experience thus far, those bogus articles and ads pop up... every year.
And as far as if all stocks would be hit, well, each one is rather unique - so different variables get involved. Just realize that if war or famine etc. break out that affect a major market sector, it will often drag down other sectors as well - unless there is a major catalyst already in sway for a specific ticker.

What about the greed of our government then? Highest taxation, and invasive laws regarding it like FATCA, and then there's the treatment of the GSE's shareholders too. There is some hypocrisy that needs to be examined, I think.
The exact same logic applies to how people view the conservatorship, the warrants and the sweep. Why are hedge funds the arbiters of how much the U.S. government is entitled to for bailing out the GSE's? Without the U.S. government, there is NO FNMA. Without the hedge funds, FNMA goes on. They had little interest in the GSE's until they smelled a huge potential gain. The government CREATED the GSE's, have supported the affordable housing dream since their inception and, like everything the government does for a sustained period of time, made some good choices and made some bad choices.
But nobody in the government netted any juicy personal gain from any of the issues now being whined and complained about and litigated in a confused litany of "throw so many writs up at the ceiling, maybe something will stick." The hedge funds have nothing convincing to justify their greed-driven suits so they are forced to rely on witch hunt requests for "discovery" without limits, desperate in their asttempts to find something, anything they can use to wrest FnF's proceeds from the government and into their already engorged personal estates.
Got it?
JMHO.
I see, and shall you be the one who decides when an investor's return becomes 'greedy'? You will determine what each investor should actually get?
What do you care who makes what? I really could care less what Ackman makes as long as it is legally made. Life is not just about money.
You should be careful about this line of thinking because one day someone might decide that you should only have what you need and the results from your abilities should go to others according to their needs.
All your question it's highly improvable ,that is the answer.
the real problem is that shareholders hands have been forced by the government. alternatives from stakeholders have been proposed. the gov wants "private capital" to take over, but rejects any pragmatic proposal from investors as an alternative. they want to let us eat cake, have cake, and eat it too. given 5+ years they have no reasonable alternative. i dislike greed as well, and i see it as a profit grab by the gov. i understand your point of view, but simply disagree. given the risk in holding strong on these securities, i feel that any gains associated with them are legal and justified. we can agree to disagree...

How ironic...or should I say hypocritical...the FHFA are suing, and have settled with a lot of banks for defrauding FnF. But when it comes to FnF...FHFA claims they are the guilty party in the mortgage fraud world. And they expect us to trust them....what a crock of political hogwash.
Question: I'm sure I'm not the only one noticing on the financial websites that a lot of "experts" are predicting a major correction in the stock markets at some point this Fall (for various reasons).
Should that occur (let's hope not) would FnF tank along with the rest of the market? or would it, by its unique position and issues, hold it's own?
fair enough

Agreed
They are simple questions that will be asked in court in my opinion.
