No, they don't. I'm an insider to Sony in many levels. Not anyone important, but an insider who attends closed corporate functions. Like I said, Sony never sits on their ass and they have invested in RD, but not doing any major production runs just yet. Sony doesn't get caught with their pants down like ntek.

The mandated conversion from analog to digital by FCC and others introduced HD 1080 to the masses. That was a very BIG thing. Ntek is way late and bottom feeder to the party. Manufacturers of all types had no choice to change and invest. (This didn't happen over night, we've had digital for years, just no government told everyone you got to do it NOW.)
95% of the analog to digital push was done by the big media providers and networks AND Microsoft and other OS providers to implement a industry wide pirating crypto protection standard we have today. DRM in it's many annoying forms. HDMI is one of the results. Pirate protection in a physical cable. The marketing hype is people get better quality... well gee, more data can be transmitted with hdmi.
Ntek has nothing on 4K as 'new'... 4K is just a digital code upgrade to an existing and perfectly functional and satisfying standard (1080HD) just now being acclimated world wide.
No mandate, no appreciable demand, no real push by big movie machines to do 4K, just the indie's, desperate for any hook to sell their wares.
Could this be why ALL ntek talk is now focused for 2015 and beyond...because the hype is overblown right now?
Nobody buying this news.... People have begun to see that this company is simply trying to dilute upon the share holders.
