Shareholders wanted news. The company was being too quiet many complained. I think this letter was an attempt to do what people requested. Not saying I think it was chock full of definitive game changing news but it was an attempt to reach out to shareholders.
For those currently underwater and not wanting to take a loss it comes down to believing or not believing.
