The case for NOT releasing financial information until the CEO

Under my premise that the stock price is where it is due to manipulation, how would release of financials prematurely help the share price? Its clear to me that the bashers DESPERATELY want this info. Why? I think it's so they can gauge the success or failure of their tactics and to decide what further resources they need to bring to bear in their efforts.
While it would be nice for investors to know what the financials are, it wouldn't be of any benefit to the share price except in the short term. Unless of course, it was so good that no amount of manipulation could keep it down. I have to assume that it is getting there and the bashers fear it.
