ALBANY, N.Y., Aug. 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A summer camp experience. A nutritious lunch. A safer home. These are some of the vital services that numerous local children and seniors will receive thanks to the 2014 CDPHP® Workforce Team Challenge.
Four charities – Fast Break Fund, Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, Inc., Schenectady Inner City Ministry, and St. Catherine's Center for Children – are sharing $25,915.56 in donations raised at the annual road race.

• Fast Break Fund enriches the lives of underprivileged children and children living with special needs through participation in organized sports programs and clinics offered free of charge. Fast Break Fund will receive $6,657.64 to provide nearly 200 children with summer camp scholarships.
• Rebuilding Together Saratoga County, Inc. provides volunteers to work on free home repairs for older adults, persons living with disabilities, low-income families, and veterans. The organization will receive $6,134.64 to purchase building supplies and to help launch the Safe at Home program, which provides home safety kits.
• Schenectady Inner City Ministry is a partnership of 53 faith congregations that offers programs that serve low-income people, especially those who experience food insecurity. The organization will receive $6,453.64 to expand its mobile summer lunch wagon program, which brings healthy, nutritious meals to children in Schenectady County.
• St. Catherine's Center for Children provides a comprehensive range of human services designed to offer hope, foster growth, and improve the lives of children and families. The organization will receive $6,669.64 to provide summer camp and recreational opportunities to children served by the center.
The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge is organized by, and serves as the major fundraiser for, the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC). The funds raised help underwrite many of HMRRC's activities and services, including college scholarships, grants, running clinics, and the Just Run® Program that encourages grade school children to run for exercise and fun. The race takes place each May in downtown Albany.

The Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club is the Albany area's largest running organization. The club was formed in 1971 and today has more than 3,000 members who come in all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life, as well as different running styles and speeds. Members are united in their love of running and desire to promote and participate in quality races and running-related activities.
