Garrett Brown is the inventor of theOscar-winning Steadicam™ camera stabilizer that allows cameramen to film whilewalking without the shaking and jostling of a handheld camera. He used it toshoot over a hundred movies including Rocky,The Shining, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Philadelphia, and Return of The Jedi. He has worked withsuch directors as Woody Allen, Hal Ashby, John Alvidsen, Warren Beatty,Jonathan Demme, Terry Gilliam, Stanley Kubrick, Mike Nichols, Frank Oz, JohnSchlesinger, Martin Scorcese and Steven Spielberg.Mr. Brown was the recipient of Oscarfor Scientific and Technical Achievement from the Academy of Motion PictureArts and Sciences and an Emmy Award from the National Academy of TelevisionArts and Sciences for his invention of the Steadicam.
