Advanced Medical Marihuana Canada (AMMCan) is moving on to the next step, after receiving building permits from Kincardine to construct a facility to grow marihuana for medical needs.
Kincardine Director of Building and Planning Michele Barr says they issued a permit for change of use and renovation of the former greenhouses at the Bruce Energy Centre.
Barr says they are expanding the interior of the greenhouses into some offices and some industrial growing area.
She says the site plan was amended to include the security fencing around the facility in order to meet Health Canada specifications.
Other security equipment, such as cameras, will also be installed.
Barr says to the best of her knowledge, work on the renovations will begin immediately.
When at full operation AMMCan will employ up to 100 workers and produce over 100 pounds of marihuana a day under federal licence.
The former greenhouse is well over 300,000 square feet in size.
