Yikes I hope so lol...Just fyi...you have 15 minutes to go back in the post and change it
Not much at all, thus part of the reason for the lack of the private sector action. Upping the return by increasing G fees by 50 bpts and you might see some money start to talk though. Unfortunately, FHFA is taking it's legal cues from our administration, which doesn't bode well for us right now. Court pressures or the right political makeup will help I'm hoping.
We will see 2's... Still watching to get back in
Investors Unite meet Watt:
Tim Pagliara and Investors Unite members were able to speak with Director Mel Watt briefly after his event in Atlanta on Thursday, August 14. Investors Unite hopes that this is the beginning of a beneficial dialogue with Administration officials about the preservation of shareholder rights.
His visit’s mission, to shed light on certain Federal Housing Finance Agency programs for struggling homeowners, is not insignificant. Certainly a key component of strengthening the housing market will be proper reform of the home financing system itself. Our hope is that this mission of assisting home ownership will extend to ending the conservatorship.
Though the discussion at the town hall event promoted a program FHFA provides, Director Watt’s leadership was highlighted significantly. Aside from his extensive work on housing policy, he served 12 years on the House of Representatives Financial Services Committee. This experience is important in understanding the conservatorship. It will hopefully lead to recognition that it must end to not only restore the rule of law but to provide for continued liquidity in the housing market that enables the availability of the 30-year mortgage.
Investors Unite appreciates the opportunity to meet Director Watt and hopes that this interaction will pave the way for future conversations on shareholder rights in regard to the conservatorship. It is through this type of discussion that all stakeholders can be heard and our nation’s housing policy will be best reformed.
Realize the times we're living in? We've had it worse than this. In fact, we have much more to be thankful for than we do to complain about. You may be too young to realize it though. All the best to you too!
GO FnF
Not sure it has an effect on the daily pps.
I'm sure Watt is just doing his job and making sure he keeps his boss (administration) happy. Can't very well leave out the plans for future mgmt. of something you haven't released yet, but with that said, I didn't expect a '14 release anyway. He won't release until someone tells him to.
I read it as asking input for the "ongoing conservatorship" which it is at this time. I do not interpret that statement as inferring a prolonged conservatorship as concrete, just that it is continually ongoing until it is not.
FHFA wants to know how to end this. We will be happy to help them out
Sorry, forgot to say
"it least officially".
The point is that is in plan for 15-16
so according to this they not planning anything for 14-15
IMF news : Pershing Square Sues U.S., GSEs for ‘Brazen’ Profit Sweep
Pershing Square Capital Management – reportedly the largest investor in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac common stock – filed suit late Thursday, challenging the federal government’s “net worth sweep” of GSE profits.
According to a complaint filed in the U.S. Court of Claims, the New York hedge fund contends the government’s actions short change investors and amount to a de facto liquidation of the two firms. The complaint lists the U.S. as a defendant, as well as Fannie and Freddie as nominal defendants.
Pershing becomes the latest plaintiff to oppose what it calls the government’s “brazen” 2012 amendment to the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s conservatorship of the GSEs that impounds any Fannie/Freddie net worth in excess of $3.0 billion.
Fannie and Freddie are expected to pay the Treasury some $5.6 billion (combined) based on the firms’ second quarter earnings. Once that money is in hand, the two companies will have returned $218 billion to taxpayers for the approximately $188 billion in financial support the GSEs received from Treasury after being placed in government conservatorship in September 2008.
While some 20 lawsuits have already been filed against the Treasury and other government entities on behalf of GSE shareholders – including hedge funds Perry Capital and Fairholme Capital Management – those legal actions have been primarily on behalf of preferred shareholders.
Nope. There's no interest. At least not yet. The volume is anemic at best. We're gonna need much more substantial news then just more law suit announcements.....
