Nanotech Entertainment, which owns the UltraFlix 4K Ultra HD network for subscribers, is in the process of releasing a wide selection of remastered pristine 4K content to its subscribers thanks to the work of its subsidiary, 4K Studios.
The films and other content being recreated in 4K format by the company include 11 concerts, music videos from AC/DC, Justin Bieber and Madonna, over a dozen performing arts films, 19 sports event videos, 2 horror films and roughly 350 hours of sci-fi, action comedy and drama movies.
According to Roger Riegel of NanoTech’s content advisory board, “By bringing in a diverse offering of popular genres into stunning digital 4K UHD, audiences will have an opportunity to experience these titles as the producers have always intended.”
NanotTech’s Nuvola NP-1, which comes loaded with UltraFlix and other social and streaming applications, will be able to stream content to users in 4K Ultra HD, Full HD, SD and even 3D formats. The NP-1 is based on the very powerful Nvidia Integra 4 processing chip and uses the latest Android OS 4.4 for its application management interface.
NanoTech is also planning to continue with other future additions to its 4K library of streaming content and some of those that will be available extremely soon include over a dozen remastered films that were originally created for big screen theaters such as IMAX and Cineplex.
Again in this case, 4K Studios will be processing and mastering to 4K some 13 films that were originally captured to 70mm film. Since this film format has over 19 thousand lines of resolution, its transfer to the digital medium will be at its best under 4K resolutions of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, which will best cover the clarity of the original chemical film content.
In fact, many of the movies that are being remastered by NanoTech’s 4K studios had to first be transferred to an enormous 8K format and then shrunk down to a pristine 4K resolution that will allow them to be streamed to users with 4K TVs and web connections with at least 15 to 20 Mbps.
The 13 films being released by Nanotech include movies from several different genres and will be available by the fall of 2014.
Currently, NanoTech has one of the largest libraries of streaming 4K content on the U.S market thanks to the efforts of its studio and additions to this library are expected to be ongoing.
According to Tom Cosgrove, also of NanoTech’s content advisory board, “The demand for 4K content is growing even faster than analysts originally anticipated, and I’m pleased with how swiftly NanoTech has secured major 4K content deals that I’m sure consumers will get excited about”.
NanoTech is an entertainment media technology company headquartered in San Jose California and its UltraFlix Network is a dedicated Ultra HD 4K streaming content broadcaster that is available to subscribers of NanoTech’s Nuvola(TM) NP-1 streaming 4K Ultra HD media player.
With its new remastered 4K creations, NanoTech joins other media companies such as Netflix, DirecTV, Samsung and Sony Studios (the entertainment branch of Sony Electronics) in creating or upgrading original film content to 4K format for streaming to audiences with TVs and web connections capable of handling the resolution.
