Apache Corporation (NYSE, Nasdaq: APA) today announced second-quarter 2014 earnings of $505 million or $1.31 per diluted common share and adjusted earnings, which exclude certain items that impact the comparability of results, of $644 million or $1.67 per share. For the same period in the prior year, Apache's earnings were $1 billion or $2.54 per diluted common share and adjusted earnings were $813 million or $2.04 per share. Net cash provided by operating activities totaled approximately $2.3 billion in second-quarter 2014, compared with $2.8 billion in the prior year, with cash from operations before changes in operating assets and liabilities totaling $2.2 billion, compared with $2.6 billion in second-quarter 2013. Prior-year results reflect contributions from properties that have been divested, including producing assets in the Gulf of Mexico, Canada, Argentina and a noncontrolling interest in Egypt.
