(NASDAQ: UBSH) today reported net income of $14.8 million and earnings per share of $0.32 for its second quarter ended June 30, 2014. Excluding after-tax acquisition-related expenses of $3.0 million, operating earnings(1) for the quarter were $17.8 million and operating earnings per share(1) was $0.38. The quarterly results represent an increase of $992,000, or 5.9%, in operating earnings from the prior quarter. Operating earnings per share of $0.38 for the current quarter increased $0.02, or 5.6%, from the quarter ended March 31, 2014. Net income for the six months ended June 30, 2014 was $22.6 million and earnings per share was $0.48. For the six months ended June 30, 2014, operating earnings were $34.7 million and operating earnings per share was $0.74.
