Combined Heat and Power to Address Carbon Pollution Problem
ACCESSWIRE - Tue Jul 29, 8:49AM CDT
Whitefish, MT / July 29, 2014 / American DG Energy Inc. (NYSE AMEX: ADGE) and its 70.7%-owned subsidiary focused on the EU market, EuroSite Power (OTCQB: EUSP), provide tailored, On-Site Utility™ Combined Heat and Power (CHP, or cogeneration) solutions that can help a wide variety of businesses not only slash utility costs by as much as 20%, but greatly reduce carbon pollution. Built around proven low-emission V-8 natural gas engines, the company's CHP systems are ideal for hotels and multi-unit residential sites, as well as for health clubs, hospitals and nursing homes, or anywhere else that can make use of the abundant thermal heat that is captured in the process of generating electricity for space heating or hot water.
Proposed EPA Emissions Guidelines Choke Coal Companies, Breath Air into CHP Industry
ACCESSWIRE - Thu Jul 24, 8:50AM CDT
Whitefish, MT / July 24, 2014 / On June 2, the Environmental Protection Agency released a much-anticipated proposal representing the most aggressive steps to slow global warming to date by the U.S. government. In the proposal, the EPA seeks to slash U.S. carbon dioxide emissions by 30 percent by 2030 from 2005 levels. Although the pro-coal community has been firing back, calling the proposal too idealistic, a shot at the America's middle class and more, the EPA has gone to virtually unprecedented lengths to make the new policy as accommodative as possible to states. With that in mind, it seems pretty clear that the new regulations are coming, like it or not. The stricter emission standards are going to continue to weigh on companies such as Walter Energy (NYSE: WLT), Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU) and more of their coal brethren, but the bleeding may get worse before it gets better, considering actions such as Stanford University divesting its $18.7 billion endowment of stock in coal mining companies in May. Part of Stanford's decision to become the first major university to walk away from its investment in coal was predicated on internal guidelines of trustees to make decisions on investments based upon social responsibility. As funds exit "dirty" energy, it seems plausible that increased investments will start to make their way towards more efficient energy, including natural gas and related products, such as the combined heat and power offerings of American DG Energy, Inc. (NYSE MKT: ADGE).

Combined Heat and Power Even More Appealing Amid Spiking Utility Prices
ACCESSWIRE - Thu May 29, 8:53AM CDT
Whitefish, MT / May 29, 2014 / Skyrocketing utility rates put U.S. citizens in an uproar in many parts of the country, with monthly bills doubling or tripling in many cities this winter. Last month, Senator Charles Schumer called upon the Federal Trade Commission to investigate the situation to determine if utility companies are artificially inflating upstate New York electric rates. Most of the country is experiencing rising electric costs, with the Midwest and Northeast hit particularly hard. While it's fair to say that the massive spikes in costs were attributable to the bitter cold winter, don't be fooled that it was a temporary hike. Rates are still moving north, a product of an improving economy and rising commodity prices. As The Motley Fool noted in March, "Utilities will benefit from increased economic growth in the United States, as it would leave open the possibility for greater rate increases and transmission growth." Article author Bob Ciura notes that recent investor presentations by American Electric Power Co. (NYSE: AEP) and Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) cited an improving economy as a fundamental driver of profit targets.
EuroSite Power's Combined Heat and Power Solutions Leverage Zero Upfront Costs to Capture Growth Opportunities
ACCESSWIRE - Wed May 28, 9:05AM CDT
Whitefish, MT / May 28, 2014 / EuroSite Power Inc. (OTCQB: EUSP), a 70.7%-owned subsidiary of American DG Energy Inc. (NYSE MKT: ADGE), has the potential for solid long-term growth in the rapidly developing cogeneration market as an owner/operator of on-site combined heat and power (CHP) solutions, which capture what is otherwise wasted heat energy in order to vastly improve overall operating efficiency. The core UK/Europe target market for EUSP is both broad and growing, driven in large part by favorable EU sustainability initiatives stretching back to the 2004 CHP Directive, and more recently realized in both the Energy Efficiency Plan 2011 and subsequent 2012 Energy Efficiency Directive (EED). The EU is clearly hammering out a more comprehensive energy efficiency strategy via the EED, fusing energy efficiency into one coherent structure. The numerous incentives, rebates and other forms of support made available for CHP systems in particular has ignited a firestorm of activity in the sector across Europe.

American DG Energy and Pepco Well Positioned as Coke eBay and More Employ Cogeneration Systems
ACCESSWIRE - Tue Mar 11, 9:08AM CDT
Whitefish, MT / March 11, 2014 / For decades the world has depended on inefficiently burning fossil fuels for its energy needs, but with the boom in U.S. shale gas production recently and government support of cleaner technologies, combined heat and power (CHP) systems are rising in popularity. CHP, also known as cogeneration, more efficiently and reliably supplies energy needs in commercial and industrial applications where there is continuous demand for both electricity and heat. Navigant Research stated this month that "the confluence of a number of drivers points to renewed interest in this proven technology [CHP] platform across all regions." The market research firm forecasts worldwide revenue from industrial CHP to rise from $19.7 billion in 2013 to $29.8 billion in 2023. On that point, the increased use of CHP has created significant growth opportunities for leaders in the industry, such as Pepco Energy Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: POM) and American DG Energy, Inc. (NYSE MKT: ADGE).

Changing Emission Standards and Shale Boom Drivers of Combined Heat and Power Industry
ACCESSWIRE - Thu Jan 02, 10:10AM CST
New regulations proposed in September by the Environmental Protection Agency under President Obama's Climate Action Plan are meant to substantially crack down on carbon emissions at power plants. Under the new rules, coal-fired plants will be permitted to release 1,100 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt hour, or 40 percent less than average emissions today. Natural gas-fired plants will be capped at 1,000 pounds of CO2 per megawatt hour. This proposed legislation has set the coal industry on its side and, not surprisingly, weighed on coal plays like James River Coal Company (NASDAQ: JRCC) and Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI) as investors ponder future demand. While the case is certainly not closed on the coal industry, it is time for investors to be looking at greener alternatives that will play a key role in shaping future generations of energy production.
