Tullow Oil Confirms A Second Oil Discovery Onshore Kenya
Earlier this year Tullow Oil opened up a new front in Africa’s black gold rush. Having already put Uganda and Ghana on the map, countries previously bypassed by the industry, Tullow’a Ngamia-1 oil strike ensured Kenya is now a favoured destination for reserves-hunters.
Ngamia-1 in Block 10BB in the South Lokichar Basin yielded a “significant” light oil discovery in May. The well found a massive 1.1 km thick gross oil bearing interval with over 100 metres of net pay recorded, prompting London-listed Tullow to accelerate exploration across its acreage in the Kenya-Ethiopia Rift Basins, where there are similarities to its basin-opening finds in Uganda’s Lake Albert Rift Basin.
