Grafton, Wisc., July 31, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Get ready to relive all of the excitement of OPTIMA's Search for the Ultimate Street Car 2014 season when MAVTV debuts its newest series Friday, August 1 st . Follow along as the OPTIMA Search for the Ultimate Street Car visits some of the most legendary racetracks in the U.S. in search of the nation's best performance street cars and watch as the drivers compete in an action packed pentathlon of driving challenges that puts their cars and driving skills through the ultimate test.
"OPTIMA's Search for the Ultimate Street Car" pits drivers of street-legal performance cars against one another as they battle for an invitation to the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway following the 2014 SEMA Show. To earn a spot in the "Big Show," drivers must compete in the Detroit Speed and Engineering Road Rally, the Ridetech Autocross and the Wilwood Disc Brakes Speed Stop Challenge, have their vehicles' judged in the Lingenfelter Performance Engineering Design and Engineering competition and finally try to set the fastest lap in their class during the BFG Road Course Challenge. Adding to the excitement of the series are the track locations themselves, with drivers proving their mettle while following in the footsteps of racing legends as they tackle Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca's famous "corkscrew" or navigate the famous Rolex24 course at Daytona at night and under the lights.
The TV series kicks off Friday, August 1 st with an introductory episode introducing viewers to the event concept, philosophies, and sponsors. Starting with week 2, viewers will be introduced to tracks, drivers, and their vehicles. Beyond driving coverage, the show will give viewers a behind the scenes look at what it's like to compete in these events as drivers push themselves and their cars to the limit. Follow along as the drivers deal with triumph, disappointment, mechanical failures as well as physical and emotional stress, as they prepare to leave it all on the track in an effort to secure a spot in the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational.
