Diversity Journal Announces 2014 Innovations in Diversity Award Winners

Cleveland, Ohio, July 31, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Profiles in Diversity Journal announced today the winners of its 11 th Annual Innovations Award. Winners will be featured in the publication's July/August 2014 issue, according to James R. Rector, Founder, CEO & Publisher.

"The ideas we celebrate in our Annual Innovations in Diversity Awards issue are igniting movements in the organizations that gave them berth to create and sustain a more diverse and inclusive workplace," said Rector. "I believe that's what makes our award so different. Its purpose is not to recognize just the biggest ideas or the largest corporate investments or even the companies and organizations we admire most. Instead, the purpose of this award is to share with an international community of like-minded organizations the innovative tools and ideas that can help move their diversity efforts forward."

The organizations awarded represented corporations, nonprofits, government agencies and health systems from across North America.

The top ten Innovations Award Winners are very different in their approaches to diversity and inclusion, and stood out in the eyes of judges not only for the level of commitment involved, but for their ability to inspire and be imitated by other organizations.

For example, Entelo Diversity provides a groundbreaking new sourcing technology that helps companies find and hire top talent from underrepresented groups.  At Legg Mason, their Board Leadership Program provides employees a unique opportunity to serve together on the nonprofit boards of community organizations.

Electronic Arts, a global leader in digital interactive entertainment, is awarded for their LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) initiatives that influence the industry, gaming fans and employees alike.  First Horizon National Corporation's Emerging Leaders Program--a rigorous 10-month 'mini-MBA' course--puts high performers on the road to success.

KPMG's Executive Leadership Institute for Women provides a high-powered leadership training program for the firm's future women leaders, while Prudential Financial's Signature Research thought leadership studies focus on the financial behaviors of African-American, Hispanic, LGBT and women consumers.

Also awarded among the Top Ten were Alcoa, nonprofit ASAE, EY, and Canada's Ryerson University.

Twenty more organizations were given Awards of Excellence and Honorable Mentions for their outstanding initiatives.

Now in its 16 th year, Profiles in Diversity Journal is a leadership publication featuring the positive achievements of organizations and individuals in the employee equal opportunity space. The Journal focuses on senior leadership, best practices, workforce diversity strategies and recognition of employee contributions. For more information, visit www.diversityjournal.com .
