MNP BOLSTERS PRESENCE IN GTA WITH A SIGNIFICANT MERGER
For immediate release
MONDAY, MAY 13, 2013 – CALGARY, AB – Entering the Toronto marketplace in 2008, MNP LLP, one of Canada’s largest accounting and consulting firms, had always envisioned creating a significant presence in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The firm’s most recent merger, effective June 1, 2013, with MSCM LLP will give MNP a significantly larger footprint in the GTA, bringing the total number of offices in the GTA to four and 375 team members. MNP was looking to add more resources to serve the GTA marketplace while MSCM—a Toronto-based accounting, tax and advisory firm—was looking for an opportunity to offer more specialty services to its clients. MSCM was founded in 1975 and provides audit, accounting, tax planning and management solutions for a diverse range of Canadian and international clients. MSCM is also known for its experience in public markets work and transactions and has a significant client base in the resource sector.
“We were looking for an opportunity to not only add more resources but to offer more specialty services to our clients,” said David Danziger, CA, Senior Partner, MSCM. “With experts in corporate finance, cross-border taxation, accounting, consulting and risk management—locally, across the country, as well as through affiliates around the globe—MNP enhances our ability to ensure our clients maximize returns and reduce risks in every area of their business, no matter where their business takes them. We couldn’t be more excited about teaming up.
MNP continues to see strong growth in a challenging economy through mergers with like-minded, quality firms that share the same commitment to people. “To maintain our corporate culture, we have been very strategic about who we invite to join our team,” says Jeremy Cole, MNP’s Regional Managing Partner for the GTA. “MSCM is passionate about what they do and committed to providing outstanding value and service to their clients. We look forward to working together to manage our clients’ most pressing business challenges with innovative strategies.”
Complementing MNP’s merger success, its personalized and partner-led approach to mid-market business has allowed the firm to lead the pack with the highest year-over-year growth rates of any of Canada’s top accounting firms. Operating since 1945, MNP, the once western firm, is the fastest growing accounting and consulting firm** with almost 80 offices and a team of over 3,000 across Canada from Vancouver to Montreal.
“MNP has an organizational culture and values founded upon an unwavering commitment to people, both clients and team members that is similar to MSCM,” added Danziger. “MSCM was recently voted one of Canada’s 2013 best workplaces while MNP has been voted one of Canada’s 50 best employers for the fifth year in a row. MNP is quite simply a fun and rewarding place to work and do business, where authentic relationships, an entrepreneurial spirit and a healthy balance between home and work life are at the core of how business is run. We are excited to join forces and grow together in our quest to help our clients achieve even greater success.”
Joining MNP from MSCM are 11 partners and more than 60 team members. They will remain in their current location at 701 Evans Avenue - 8th Floor, which will fall under the MNP banner on June 1.
