I only have 87 Grateful Dead shows under my belt (maybe we've run into each other, I am positive we've been to a few of the same shows) so maybe I know less, but...
I really do think that marijuana has medical benefits. I am not completely sure of what they are yet, but they will be tested and proved. I have heard of people who've had seizure conditions improved, and long-term pain reduced, but we'll see if these claims hold up to scientific scrutiny; I bet they will.
On a side note - EVERY medication/substance you put in your body has side effects, some of those are bad. I hear many people who are against MMJ use the "long-term effect" argument. Every time I hear one of those commercials with the extra long list of side effects on TV, I wonder if MMJ were produced today, in a lab, by a big pharmaceutical, would be watching one of those commercials for MMJ right now, not giving it a second thought.
