I have a feeling its past connections just like you said: the problem is proving that. The company will never come out and explain this to the public, they are focused on running the business and expanding their product. The negative element here is that we do not know for sure and the shorters are taking advantage of this and making up their own truths. The only need a few of them to lay the seed and the lemmings start to follow.
