I want you to be the lab tech for a moment: You hold in your hand a culture containing the evidence of a swabbed countertop at a meatpacking plant. You look at the culture and see many different types of growths. Some are beady and some may look altogether different. You just don't what they are. So you take your tool and lift the many kinds of growth you see in the culture. You place them in the tiny glass flask after removing the heavier particles with a tiny finger centrifuge. Once all of the bacteria is placed in the machine, the MIT 1000 begins the process. After about two minutes, the MIT 1000 generates a report. All bacteria is tested at the same time with this method. Eventually, it is hoped that the MIT 1000 will not need a culture as this technology is already moving to the next stage of development by OSI Systems (OSIS).
