The Israeli EEZ connection.
This is current information on the Minexo Petroleum website. The company reported to be interested in the EEZ.
"São Tomé e Príncipe is a Portuguese-speaking island nation in the Gulf of Guinea, located off the western equatorial coast of Central Africa. Formed by two main islands – São Tomé and Príncipe – the country is part of an extinct volcanic mountain range.
São Tomé e Príncipe’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) borders some of Africa’s most hydrocarbon-prolific waters. Oil has been discovered in Block 1 of the Joint Development Zone jointly owned by Nigeria and Sao Tome – and soon to be re-drilled by Total. Major discoveries have also been made in the areas bordering on Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in recent years.
Our strategy in São Tomé e Príncipe
In São Tomé e Príncipe, we operate through Minexco (STP) Inc São Tomé e Príncipe. Having visited the data room, we’re engaged in productive talks to acquire part of the most sought-after block in the EEZ. "
I believe ERHC has the most sought after block #4.
Note that they appear to be talking about a block already granted as they say "we're engaged in productive talks to acquire part of the most sought-after block in the EEZ."
They could have all of one of the blocks not yet given to ERHC and the two other companies with existing rights. However if they are talking about Block 3 awarded to Oranto Petroleum or Blocks 5 or 12 awarded to equator petroleum, the effect on ERHC is still positive. These blocks are all adjacent to ERHC's 100% blocks !
Additional seismic studies and the start of drilling anywhere in the EEZ gets the ball rolling and should impact ERHC's rights and ERHE shareholders favourably.
