I wish, but I'm almost certain that simulator training follows ground training. My opinion is that training completion is the most important aspect of the process right now - the conformity check is a Phase III activity according to the process outlined on the FAA website. Training of the Phase II participants is what I believe is preventing us from entering Phase III. Having the maintenance done prior to entering Phase III is going to make Phase III substantially shorter!
Plus, as far as importance is concerned, the maintenance WILL be completed and the aircraft will be airworthy. They've done way too much work on that aircraft to abandon it now...
